As usual this post was meant to be up about 2 1/2 weeks ago, but as usual the farm has been keeping us busy with such activities as chasing escapee pigs out of the greenhouse, fixing tractor flat tires, getting the winter cover crops in the 2011 fields and then of course the usual harvesting and chores.
To the purpose of this post… on August 15th, Pemberton hosted the Slow Food Cycle Sunday, started by Anna Helmer in 2005. An event all should make an effort to take part in. On a 25 km route up the Pemberton valley, thousands of people are able to visit different farms, sample local food and meet the farmers, all by bike. We hosted a Taco stand, local caterers The Food Lovers, Whistler Cooks, took people on tours and of course we were selling our veggies, Simone’s fabulous kale chips and ice cold apple cider. We were also lucky enough to host Lambrecht Surfboards, the business of local Andy Lambrecht, surfboard designer and builder who shapes surfboards from recycled wood. Old fences, barns, sheds, houses are turned into works of art, as well as making fine wave riding devices. Check out the pics:
